Sprinkles/light rain showers

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
A late season, upper-level cut-off low will produce an increase
in mid to high-level cloudiness and scattered sprinkles/light rain showers today through Saturday morning. These sprinkles/showers will be the “hit and miss” variety with some areas not receiving any precipitation at all.

Today’s temperatures should range between the low to mid 60s at the beaches and the 70s in the coastal valleys and the interior.

The frequency of the scattered sprinkles/light rain showers is expected to increase late Thursday into Friday as this system finally makes landfall along the Central Coast. Rain fall amounts may be up to 0.10″ when the system moves through our area with larger amounts possible in the Sierra and higher terrain along the coast.

Note: Snow levels will lower to near 7,000 feet on Friday with snow likely in the high Sierra on Thursday night and into Saturday morning. If this type of weather pattern had developed in January, it would have produced a great amount of rain.

Clearing is forecast for Saturday night and Sunday with warmer temperatures extending into the early part of next week under fair skies.
